Foreign Investment in Pakistan down 60 percent in the first quarter of FY19

KARACHI: Foreign investment in Pakistan has dropped 60 percent in the first quarter of FY19 (July-September 2018) to $254.3 million, compared with $637.4 million same period last year.

According to provisional data released by the State Bank of Pakistan Thursday, total Foreign Investment in Pakistan was recorded at $95.5 million in the month of September 2018 against $222.6 million at the same period last year.

During September 2018, Foreign Private Investment remained at $95.5 million only against $222.6 million last August while Direct Investment was recorded at $151.3 million during this period against $195 million a year ago period.

During first quarter of FY19 (July-September), the Foreign Private Investment was recorded at $254.2 million, down 63 percent against $687 million during first quarter of FY18.

Pakistan had received total Foreign Investment of $5.301 billion in FY18 and $2.496 billion in FY17.
